Are you having trouble selling your product?  The sales industry is tough with so many people out there competing amongst each other.  There could be a ton of reasons that you are not seeing the results that you want.  But this 1 simple sales mistake could be costing you money. It might seem basic. But so many salespeople are making it!  Don’t be this kind of sales person!

This 1 Simple Sales Mistake Could Be Costing You Money. Such a great article! I see so many salespeople making this mistake. This sales tip could be the small difference between making the sale and failing to make any money! The easy way doesn't pay in this industry.

Put yourself in the place of a consumer for a second. Have you ever had a salesperson try to sell you something, but it was extremely obvious that they didn’t know their products? It is annoying and pretty sad. Yea, sometimes people feel so bad for these poor sales people and buy their product because of it but usually, they don’t get the sale.  If you are in sales or are thinking about it please do everyone a favor, including yourself, and learn about what you are trying to sell.

I have a confession to make. I was this kind of sales person a couple of years ago when I tried selling Amway products. The products I was selling were awesome. I assumed that they were just so good everyone would want to buy them. It’s laughable now, but that was seriously how I thought about it. Learning more than the basics seemed like a waste of time to me. And I know I am not alone in that kind of thinking.

That’s one reason there are so many people who fail in the sales industry. One day my partner and I went to a gym and tried to sell some products to the owner. We thought we were hot stuff until he started asking us a million questions that we had no idea how to answer. You can only tell someone that you will find the answer and let them know so many times before you just look plain dumb. He was nice about it and told us we would do a lot better if we actually took the time to learn our products. That was some great advice and has helped me in all areas of my life.

If you want to become successful in any area, you must learn it like the back of your hand. Most people are not successful because they try to take the easy way. Pretty much every person that made it anywhere had to work hard for it. Many people today don’t understand the meaning of hard work. If achieving great accomplishments were easy then everyone would do it.

Who would you be more likely to buy something from? A sales person that looks like some brainless newbie or someone who is confident and can actually teach you why you should buy their product? I don’t know about you, but I am not going to buy anything unless it is going to help me or someone I love. Just because the salesperson says a couple little things about what they are selling is not enough for me. I want to feel good about my purchase. Not like I just got swindled from some sketchy sales person.

The information is there. The Internet is full of it. We must use our brains or we are not going to go anywhere. If you’re having trouble as a sales person, take this advice. Imagine how confident you will be when you go to sell someone something. Yea, there are other things that will help you too of course. But this is step one. If you haven’t mastered this, then you really can’t move on. Your mind is the greatest tool you have. So use it!
