Have You Heard About Oreo’s $500,000 Contest Yet?

Just a few days ago Oreo announced they were running a contest and the winner will win $500,000! And the best part? All you have to do is come up with the new idea for Oreo’s next flavor. Now, I understand that is easier said than done. But hey, anything is possible!

If you are thinking you will never win, just think, what’s the harm in trying? Someone has to win. Who knows? Maybe you could have this off the wall idea that ends up changing your entire life. And if you don’t win the grand prize, there will also be three finalists that will win $25,000.

So I downloaded the rules and terms (fun, fun) and decided I’d share the highlights with you about this contest. I originally heard you could only enter through Instagram so I was happy to see there are a few other ways as well.

Deadline

The submission deadline is July 14, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Three ways to enter

1.Text message: You can text your idea (photo/video is optional) to 59526. You could simply say “banana fosters” (this was mine and I would LOVE to try it!) or you could go into some detail. For example, a shortbread cookie with a creamy banana fosters filling. You get the idea. One entry per day and you will receive a confirmation text message.

2.Social media: You can do this either from your Instagram or Twitter account. Your post can include a picture if you want, but you need to include #MYOREOCreation #Contest in your post. You will receive an entry for each valid post.

3.Their website: From May 25 at 12:00 a.m. ET through the deadline you can submit your idea to www.myoreocreationcontest.com. Submissions must not exceed 140 characters in length. One entry per day.

Rules

In a nutshell, just don’t use profanity, drugs, violence, etc. in your submission.

Eligibility

Anyone in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. You can check out the full requirements here.

Winner determination

The judges will determine the winner out of the chosen finalists based on taste appeal, creativity, and originality. In the event of a tie, the winner with the highest taste appeal will be chosen.

How they will tell you if you are the winner

The finalists will be contact on or around August 16, 2017 and the grand prize winner will be notified late summer 2018 (annoying, huh?). Better late than never, though. They will get ahold of you in the same way you submitted your idea.

Grand prize: $500k and a trip package to New York City, NY.

Three finalists: A $25,000 check and the opportunity to have their Oreo creation produced for a limited time.
