The struggle is real. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to just get out of the shower, let your hair air dry, and it look great?  I have battled with thick, curly, frizzy hair since I was about 12 years old. I couldn’t afford a hair straightener and I really didn’t know much about them back then anyways. So I would just slick it back into a ponytail. Oh, the horror! That was not a good look but it was better than a big frizzy mess.

You have probably tried a million and one things and spent a lot of money in the process of trying to get rid of your frizz or at least control it, but nothing has seemed to work. There is hope my friend!  I am finally able to walk in the rain and not have to worry about my hair looking like I just stuck my finger into a light socket. Read on to find out how to get rid of your frizz forever.

How To Get Rid Of Your Frizz Forever. Great find! I have battled with frizzy hair for years and wasted hundreds of dollars trying to find something that will permanently get rid of it. Salon products only fix it temporarily and I still have to put so much time into doing my hair. I would love to just be lazy and still look cute. I'm so excited to try this conditioner after reading all of the raving reviews about it!

Argan Oil

This stuff is awesome. I use it on my face as well. I like Josie Maran’s from Sephora. You only need a bit, but make sure it’s the real deal because a lot of people sell an argan blend that is useless. Use a wide tooth comb to help distribute the oil more evenly throughout your hair.  This can totally get rid of mild frizz. If you haven’t tried this yet, I would start here. But it may take a little more care if you have really frizzy hair.

Hair Mask

There are so many great hair masks that you can use to rejuvenate your hair.  I like to switch it up every once in a while, but I usually just stick to my favorite. It leaves my hair feeling silky smooth and makes it look a million times healthier. I like to get my ingredients from Amazon, but your local health shop probably carries them too. Here’s what you’ll need:

1/2 c. Aztec clay

1 T. coconut oil

5-6 T. apple cider vinegar

2-3 T. water

Mix together and distribute evenly throughout your hair. Let it sit for about 30 minutes with a shower cap over your hair.  I recommend rinsing it out in the shower because the clay gets pretty messy. Finish it off with a great conditioner.  The one mentioned below is perfect! Here is another great post about some different types of hair masks that you can try by PureJojoba.com.

Keep your hair trimmed

If I am past due for a haircut, my hair gets very unmanageable. Most people need to get a haircut every month and a half to two months because of all the harmful things that we do to our hair. The ends get dry and break off, making your hair look horrible. After a while of taking better care of your hair, you will be able to go even longer without a haircut and still look great.  I’m to the point where I only need one every six months and even then my hair stylist compliments how healthy my hair is.

Pat Dry

Don’t rub your hair with the towel. Just gently pat it dry. Wet hair is more susceptible to damage so be mindful when you are drying it.  Drying your hair with a pillow case or t-shirt might be the right choice for you since they are much softer.

Quit dying your hair

I used to dye mine all the time. It’s hard to remember that far back, but that was probably a contributing factor as to why my hair started getting so frizzy. I haven’t dyed my hair for about four years and my hair is much healthier now. Your natural hair color will look better on you than any dye will.  Even stopping for a while to let your hair heal will do wonders for you.

Drink lots of water and eat healthier food

Your hair needs water and nutrients just like your body does to work properly. Try adding more water, fruits, and vegetables to your diet and you will be amazed at all the many benefits you will get.  You will not only look better but feel better too!

“No-poo” Method

This method is not for everyone, but it is effective. The first two weeks to a month your hair will probably look very greasy since the oils in your hair are used to being stripped, but after the oils balance out, your hair will look awesome! Honestly, I have tried it and my hair started looking really nice. I also had very little frizz, but I gave up about a month in when my sister bought some heavenly smelling shampoo and conditioner and I just had to use it.

I had meant to start the process over until I found something even better for my hair! But the greasy phase does suck. Why I gave up when things were getting good is beyond me, though! There are people who haven’t washed their hair in years and it just looks so pretty and natural. It might sound gross, but hair is actually self-sustaining and cleanses itself.  I added this method because it is a completely free option to get rid of your frizz.  You can’t beat that!

Proper Blowout

I wish I would have known this 13 years ago. I had even heard about it a while back (I do a lot of research on anything I am interested in). But I was just too lazy to try something else when nothing had worked so far and this just seemed too time-consuming. I had even gotten a professional hair straightening treatment and that didn’t work!

About two years ago I found a new stylist and she took her time blow-drying my hair. Usually, they would blow dry it quickly and then straighten it. My hair looked amazing when she was done! My hair had never looked better and a straightener wasn’t even needed! The trick is to blow dry your hair most of the way dry, then use a round brush to blow dry your hair straight.

I went out and splurged on this amazing hair dryer by Rusk. I tried the blowout with my cheap Conair one and it was okay, but it wasn’t the same as the one my stylist used on me. There are all kinds of videos on “proper blowouts” on YouTube. She even curled my hair once with the brush and blow dryer. I am not that good with hair. I tried the curling trick and failed. Too complicated for me, but straightening it isn’t hard and only takes about 15 minutes or so. That’s how much time I used to spend with just flat ironing my hair (not including drying it), which would only leave it looking fried anyways.

Goats Milk Conditioner!

Before you write me off as crazy, the conditioner I use doesn’t smell like sour milk or anything weird.  It actually smells and feels like a regular conditioner. There are over 70 different scents to choose from like Berries & Cream, Vanilla Mint, and ARMANI for MEN. There’s also a lot of essential oils in it like jojoba, sweet almond, and argan oil. I’m in love with this stuff! It’s changed my hair 100%. I’ve never found anything like this after searching for years so I tell everyone that I can about it! (Yes, I’m that excited!)

I came across an article a couple of months ago talking about goat’s milk being the same pH as human hair and being amazing for frizz. A lot of people make their own, but most of us just don’t have the time to mess with that honestly. So I turned to Etsy, my favorite site for handmade items, and searched around a bit.  I came across this conditioner by HeartJCreations and decided to give it a try. The thousands of good reviews tell it all!

This conditioner has been a miracle in a bottle for me. I wish I would have taken a picture before I started for you.  My hair was a lot worse.  I saw a drastic change after just one week. I wash my hair every other day with it and my hair looks awesome when I just let it dry naturally.  There is no need for a shampoo since this cleanses and moisturizes.  Just make sure you get your roots too.

I have wasted so much money on salon products and have found that natural products work a million times better most of the time.  I just ordered another bottle and will never go back to a store-bought shampoo and conditioner again. It’s so nice finally being able to be lazy with my hair and still look good.
